I agree with 99.9% of everything you're saying. PVP at Runescape is unique and has a lot of merits to it. However, lots of your fixes at the conclusion were to do with buy RS gold moving non-PVP content into the wildy to ensure wildy PKers have individuals to prey on... Not"make PVP better more people want to perform it". I am a long time player, I'm not a noob... However I cannot PK to the life of me. I could tank and survive a wilderness experience but I would never manage to search down a kill, unless it's a shameful salamander hunter, or somebody in their way to rev caves. It's tremendously tough to learn how to PK in my experience (and I speak only from my experience, much less complete fact).
One thing that they have done correctly is a economical way to find out - Last Man Standing. Among my criticisms used to be that it is extremely costly to learn how to PK, but LMS solves that issue. The only problem with LMS is there are a lot of seasoned PKers, so getting the gear is alright, but if someone is freezing me place and ducking around trees and freezing me while I'm unable to retaliate, it is just not enjoyable. So I give up and I really don't learn. I guess my issue is, I wish there was a way to find out PKing in a sense where I have the capability to make mistakes and learn without it ruining my pleasure and costing me shit tons. LMS is a fine starting ground at this time, but there's so many seasoned players that I feel like I am not learning.
Anyway, I expect PVP gets the attention it deserves because without PVP we'd have so much less unique YouTube to watch and shed an integral component of the game that has existed since the game has. For a newcomer, it is just not fun. I do not see PVP as fun. I see it as getting harassed from the wildy (that is never really a problem, I endure 9/10 encounters) and being ez points for somebody else in LMS.
It's the exact same notion as doing tob or obtaining an infernal cape. Of course you can not just hop in and succeed easily, but if you do not like the journey and watching/tracking your progress and success, then idk. The difference is that you will find a million PvM activities in increasing difficulty which you can do in order to gradually get better at PvM until you reach the Inferno.
That doesn't exist for PvP. If you want to learn, you gotta gear up and jump in and likely get your shit kicked by someone way better than you RS3 gold. A good deal of people learned this way, but there's also just as lots of people that refuse to learn because that doesn't seem fun at all to them. LMS was a huge step in the ideal direction, it is how I learned about PvP, but it must go somewhat further. We need a Noob v Noob manner where people are able to train to be great enough to jump in with the big boys.
